Build the sound that gets you to sleep.

Most sleep apps play one track at a time. Drift plays as many as you like, together, each with its own volume — rain at 70%, a campfire underneath, a fan below that. Then the sleep timer eases the whole mix down to silence instead of cutting it off.

How it works

Three taps in the dark.
Then nothing else.

Drift has one main screen and everything on it is reachable one-handed, half asleep, with the lights off. There is nothing to sign into and nothing to download.

01

Tap the sounds you want

Every sound you switch on keeps playing alongside the others. Slide a tile to set that sound's level, then set the master volume for the room.

02

Set the timer

15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes, or anything you like from five minutes to eight hours. Still awake at the end? Add fifteen more without sitting up.

03

Save it for tomorrow

Name a mix and it comes back in one tap. Drift also remembers whatever was playing when you closed the app and has it waiting, paused.

Why it works

A sound machine you already own.
With every dial on it.

Mix, don't pick

All fourteen sounds can play at once, each on its own slider, under one master volume. Not fixed scenes — your balance, to the percent.

Fades out, never cuts out

When the timer ends the whole mix eases down to real silence over 30 seconds, one, two or five minutes — your choice. A sound stopping dead is what wakes people up.

Mixes you keep

Save a combination, name it, rename it, delete it. Rainy Night on Sunday, Deep Focus on Monday, both one tap away.

Works with no signal at all

Every sound ships inside the app. A plane, a basement, a tent, flight mode — Drift makes no network requests of its own, so there is nothing to buffer.

Collects nothing

No account, no sign-up, no analytics, no adverts, no advertising ID. Drift asks for no permissions at all — there is no dialogue to dismiss.

Keeps playing, screen off

Lock the phone and the mix carries on, with play, pause and the timer on the lock screen. It pauses itself for a call, and when you unplug your headphones.

Fourteen sounds, endless combinations

Mixes to build tonight:

Starting points, not presets — every one of these is a few taps in the mixer, and yours to adjust from there.

Why we built it

Sleep sounds went subscription.
This one didn't.

The big sleep apps want £40–70 a year to play you a loop of rain. Drift asks £2.99, once, and only if you want the eight sounds beyond the free six. Everything that makes it worth using is free.

It is also built for the hour you actually use it. Drift is dark only, with a true black option for OLED screens, big targets, one main screen, and nothing that needs reading at 3am. Every one of the fourteen loops was synthesised from scratch in-house — no samples, no field recordings, nothing licensed — which is why they loop seamlessly and why the whole library fits inside the app with nothing to stream.

Looping sounds, every one generated in-house. Play any number of them at once.

FAQ

The basics.

Can it really play more than one sound at a time?

Yes — that is the whole idea. Any number of the fourteen can play together, each with its own volume slider, under a master volume. Sit rain at 70%, a campfire at 30% and a fan underneath, and save the result.

What happens when the sleep timer runs out?

The mix eases down to silence over 30 seconds, one, two or five minutes — you choose the length in Settings — and then playback stops. It never cuts off abruptly, because that is the thing that wakes people up. You can also add fifteen minutes to a running timer, or cancel it.

Which sounds are free?

Six: white noise, pink noise, rain, ocean waves, wind and fan. The full mixer, per-sound volume, the sleep timer and its fade, background playback and lock screen controls are all free too, plus two saved mixes.

Is there a subscription?

No. Drift Unlimited is a one-time £2.99 purchase that adds the other eight sounds — brown noise, thunderstorm, stream, campfire, night crickets, train hum, café murmur and heartbeat — and unlimited saved mixes. Buy it once and it restores on any device signed in to the same store account.

Does it work offline?

Completely. Every sound is generated in-house and ships inside the app, so there is nothing to stream and nothing to download. Drift works in flight mode, on a plane, or in a basement with no signal.

What data does Drift collect?

None. There is no account, no sign-up, no analytics and no tracking, and the app makes no network requests of its own. Your saved mixes and settings stay on your phone. Drift requests no runtime permissions at all, on either platform.

Does it keep playing when I lock the phone?

Yes, with play, pause and the timer available on the lock screen and from headphone buttons. It pauses on its own if a call comes in, and if you unplug your headphones it stops rather than blasting the mix out of the speaker.

Sleep to something you made.

Free to download and free to keep using. iPhone, iPad and Android, phones and tablets. No account, no advert, no subscription.
